    London, 17 – 26 June 2026

    To be eligible for Raindance 2026, films must be completed on or after January 2025.

    Since 1992, Raindance has supported a new generation of creative and innovative filmmakers in the UK and worldwide. The Raindance Film Festival takes place in Central London, providing international filmmakers with a West End premiere and a truly authentic London experience.

    The festival welcomes over 16,000 visitors annually, including buyers, distributors, festival programmers, financiers, producers, press, and film enthusiasts.

    Raindance is the largest independent film festival in the UK, officially recognized by:

    • Academy Awards® (Oscars) – Qualifying festival for Best Animation Short, Best Documentary Short, and Short of the Festival categories

    • BAFTA – Selected shorts qualify for consideration

    • British Independent Film Awards (BIFA)

    HIGHLIGHTS & HISTORY
    Raindance has hosted the UK premieres of:
    What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, The Blair Witch Project, Dead Man’s Shoes, Memento, Humpday, Love Exposure, Ghost World, Capturing the Friedmans, Down Terrace, I Origins, and Old Boy.

    Our programming has received praise from both the press and the public alike. We have a strong interest in works from first-time filmmakers, female filmmakers, stories from the LGBTQ+ community, narratives addressing social injustice and environmental concerns, horror films, and music documentaries.

    Notable guests and filmmakers have included Christopher Nolan, Terry Gilliam, Shane Meadows, Ken Loach, Marky Ramone, Iggy Pop, Anton Corbijn, Quentin Tarantino, Faye Dunaway, and Lou Reed.

    Our international jury has included Olivia Colman, Sean Bean, Imelda Staunton, Celia Imrie, Martin Freeman, Gareth Edwards, Ewen Bremner, Jason Flemyng, Andrew Scott, Tom Waits, Vicky McClure, and Sheridan Smith.

    Submission Deadlines

    • Early deadline: Monday, 8 December 2025

    • Regular deadline: Monday, 19 January 2026

    • Final deadline: 1 March 2026

    Early entries are encouraged but do not guarantee acceptance.

    ABOUT THE CHICAGO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
    The Chicago International Film Festival celebrates the best that cinema has to offer. Showcasing films from established masters and emerging storytellers, the Festival welcomes films from around the world. Offering an impressive selection of competitive and non-competitive programming, the Chicago International Film Festival brings films both domestic and international to silver screens in Chicago.

    As one of the main cultural importers of world cinema to the Midwest, the Chicago International Film Festival is a place for audiences and filmmakers to engage with one another. The Festival features a host of screenings, panels, educational events, and Q&A’s that foster cultural understanding and artistic engagement. In 2024, the 60th Chicago International Film Festival presented 123 feature films and 71 short films from 63 countries.

    RULES & TERMS
    A. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    • Completion date: AFTER August 1, 2024

    • Premiere date: AFTER October 27, 2024

    • Must be at least a Chicago premiere; U.S. premieres preferred

    • Not eligible if:

      • Publicly screened theatrically in Chicago

      • Had a US theatrical run

      • Aired on US TV or online in IL/IN/WI

      • Available publicly on DVD/Blu-ray or online (for features)

    • Short films may be online, but not previously submitted

    • Must be in English or have English subtitles


    B. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

    • Submit via secure online screener (Vimeo recommended; download enabled)

    • Complete entry includes screener + fee

    • Unfinished works accepted but only the submitted version will be reviewed

    • DCP required for theatrical screening (unless arranged otherwise)

    • Specs for online screenings provided if selected


    C. DEADLINES

    • Early deadline: April 8, 2025

    • Regular deadline: June 9, 2025

    • Late deadline: June 30, 2025


    D. JUDGING & SELECTION

    • Selection by the Festival’s programming committee

    • Notification by September 15, 2025

    • No feedback for unselected films

    • Main competition sections judged during the Festival

    • Other categories judged prior

    • Entry fee required (non-refundable)

    The 2024 Toronto International Film Festival:

    • screened 211 feature films, 61 short films, and eight series from 73 countries, including 59 films and series from Canada

    • welcomed more than 700,000 attendees

    • accredited more than 4,400 Canadian and international industry delegates

    • accredited over 1,600 Canadian, US, and international journalists

    • held a five-day Industry Conference with more than 35 panels and more than 140 speakers

    • welcomed more than 450,000 visitors on Festival Street

    • received more than 8,500 international and Canadian submissions


    SUBMISSIONS PROCESS
    The submissions period for consideration for the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival presented by Rogers (the “Festival”) opens February 28, 2025. All submissions to the Festival must be made via FilmFreeway (https://filmfreeway.com/TIFF).

    AWARDS & PRIZES
    The following awards and prizes will be awarded at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival presented by Rogers. This list includes awards and prizes granted or determined by independent organizations and/or juries. Awards and prizes are subject to change:

    • People’s Choice Award presented by Rogers — All feature films or Primetime series in Official Selection are eligible to win this award

    • People’s Choice Midnight Madness Award — All films selected for the Midnight Madness programme are eligible to win this award

    • People’s Choice Documentary Award — All feature-length documentary films are eligible to win this award

    • Platform Award — An award of $20,000 CAD given to the best film in the Platform programme, selected by an international jury

    • The Prize of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI Prize) dedicated to emerging filmmakers

    • Network for the Promotion of Asia Pacific Cinema (NETPAC) Award

    • Short Cuts Award for Best Canadian Film

    • Short Cuts Award for Best International Film
